DETERMINED twin brothers Ben and Owen Simpson "dare to do things that are difficult" despite both having problems walking due to their cerebral palsy.
Top Valley Academy assistant head teacher Lee Morgan says the two year 11 boys are remarkable.
"They don't allow their disability to disable them in any shape or form," he added. "Nor do they let their disability affect their peer groups. They are immune from a negative outlook."
Ben is less mobile than his brother and requires mobility aids but this did not stop the football fan from hiking through fields and wading through water on a geography field trip to the Peak District.
The teenagers believe in staying positive. Owen, who loves PE and badminton said: "I never use it as an excuse – I see it as an obstacle. I have people to help me get over it and I ask for help if I need it."
Straight As student Andre Tulloch was delighted to have been nominated.
The 16-year-old Bluecoat Academy sixth-former spent much of his free time helping his peers revise for GSCEs. In some cases, he led classrooms of up to 30 children on study sessions.
"I gave a little help to one of my friends, and this turned into quite a few people," he said.
"We went through things like maths, science and computing. Because they were all friends, it made it easier."
The teenager, who got 12 A*s and one A in his exams, is following in the steps of his mother, who is a teacher.
He said: "I know how she teaches and that informed my style of teaching.
"It's all about explaining things simply and then building on that."
His teacher, Fahim Shafiq, said: "Andre has been an asset and an inspiration to his year group, the school, his family and, most importantly, himself."
