PORTRAITS of local people are among the artwork at the first exhibition at an arts charity's new home.
City Arts is opening the new site in Hockley on December 5, with a show which will also include a 40-metre-long piece of dyed silk and a giant puppet parrot. And it will exhibit some of its favourite pieces from the past five years, when it has worked with vulnerable groups such as asylum seekers and mental health patients to help them through creative projects.
During the three-week exhibition, the four-floor building will include a craft market selling handmade Christmas gifts. Any profit City Arts makes will help fund its work with vulnerable people and disadvantaged communities.
Becky's Global Kitchen will also run a pop-up café offering vegetarian and vegan food.
City Arts chairman Tim Challans said: "City Arts' work has touched the lives of thousands of people across Nottinghamshire. It's great that we now have a space where we can share this work with an even bigger audience. The exhibition will give people of taste of the impact our work has had on some of the region's most vulnerable people and communities."
