BUSINESS texting specialist Esendex has acquired Derby-based communications firm Collstream for an undisclosed sum.
The deal will create a business with combined revenues of £25m and open up new opportunities for further global expansion.
Based in Wollaton Street, Esendex sends text messages on behalf of customers ranging from home-delivery firm Ocado to Virgin Media.
CEO Geoff Love said: "This acquisition is all about growth. The intelligent multi-channel messaging services that Collstream offers customers from its Derby base is something that more than 7,000 Esendex customers around the world can now benefit from.
"We wanted to acquire the best possible team and the best possible technology and in Collstream we have done that. We're delighted that they're local too."
Collstream, founded in 2005, manages millions of SMS, email and voice messages every day on behalf of its customers.
Ian Maxfield, who co-founded Collstream in 2005 with Chris Harrison, said: "Esendex's scale, expertise and proven track record means the Collstream team and technology will be able to develop and expand into new sectors and to grow internationally.
"We leave our customers in the best possible hands and this new combined business will lead the way for the industry."
The business now has more than 130 staff in offices in Derby, Nottingham, Barcelona, Lisbon, Vienna, Madrid and Melbourne.
