Management of luxury apartments "just not good enough" residents say

Residents at a luxury apartment building have begun to fight back after claiming they are not being provided with services they have paid for.

A Facebook group has been set up by residents of the Litmus Building, on Huntingdon Street, so they can pool their complaints after the leisure facilities were closed and lifts stopped working.

More than 120 residents have so far joined the group, with many posting pictures and videos of their plight.

The building, owned by Premier City Lets, has been in a state of disrepair since November residents have claimed, with some paying more than £2,000 a month to live there.

On their website, Premier City Lets describe the Litmus Building as a "distinctive landmark" with "outstanding" leisure facilities.

But Eva Kuricova, a student at Nottingham Trent University who lives in the building, said most of those facilities haven't been available since November.

The 23-year-old said: "The first month we were here everything was fine, but then in November the boiler was broken, so the swimming pool hasn't been available, and the lifts are always broken.

"It's not great because it's a 13-storey building so it's very hard for some people to get to their house if the lifts are broken.

"The Facebook group was set up because I thought we needed somewhere we could pool our complaints."

Resident Lez Wright, a life coach, said: "There are people in wheelchairs and a woman who is pregnant and they are struggling to get up the stairs because the lifts are broken.

"Some people pay as much as £2,500 a month to live here. The management is just not good enough."

Jackie Truelove, director of Premier City Lets, said the company have been working on a budget and hoped to have everything in working order by February 20, when a new management company are taking over the management of the building.

She said: "Hopefully, everything will be in working order when the building is handed over.

"We have had contractors looking into the boiler for the swimming pool and have had surveyors trying to find out what is wrong with the lifts.

"We are in their hands. We have tried our best and we appreciate if it looks as if we haven't."
