Delays of 20 minutes are being reported on the M1 after a crash.
Two lanes are closed northbound between junctions 28 for Mansfield and 29 for Chesterfield and Bolsover.
The Highways Agency has said drivers should allow extra time for their journeys and that queues are building to junction 27 for Mansfield.
Details of the severity of the accident are not yet known.
