An Old Basford man was stabbed 16 times in a playground, a court has heard.
Danny Parekh, 21, of Thorner Close, was found dead after being stabbed with a kitchen knife at around 1am on July 8 last year.
Joshua Davey, who was aged 20 at the time of the attack and living in Bulwell, denies murdering Mr Parekh.
Also accused of murder is a 16-year-old boy, who we are unable to identify for legal reasons.
Prosecuter John Pini QC said: "[Danny] was stabbed not once, not twice, not even three times, but sixteen times to the legs and buttock area.
"One wound severed his femoral artery causing blood loss and Danny Parekh realised his life was ebbing away."
He added: "This was a joint attack by these two.
"[The boy] had a score to settle. A short time before midnight on July 7, [the boy] had been hit to the head by a small pole by Danny Parekh."
Mr Pini said this attack happened in front of a group of friends and did not cause much harm to the boy.
"But his pride had been badly hurt he was humiliated in front of the girls."
Mr Pini said the boy left the scene and went to find Mr Davey and told him of the attack.
The court then heard that Mr Davey armed himself with a kitchen knife and was guided to where Danny Parekh was, by the boy, and stabbed him.
The hearing, at Lincoln Crown Court, continues and is expected to last three weeks.
