HMV is to close its Mansfield store, the company's administrators have today confirmed. The store, which employs 10 members of staff, is one of 37 today identified for closure. The stores employ a total of 464 staff. Administrators said staff will be relocated to other stores if the opportunity arises, otherwise they will be made redundant. No fixed date is set for the closure of the Mansfield store, which will continue to trade in the meantime. However, it is expected the closure will take place over the next four to six weeks in line with the 66 stores already identified for closure. That round of closures was announced on February 7, and includes stores in Bayswater, Croydon, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Today's announcement comes after administrators were called in in January. Nick Edwards, Rob Harding and Neville Kahn were appointed Joint Administrators of HMV on January 15. Other stores today identified for closure include Gloucester, Grimsby, Heathrow terminals, Newport, Swindon and Taunton. HMV was established in 1921 and currently operates from 219 stores in the UK. The 37 stores identified for closure are Ashford, Basildon, Bolton, Cheltenham, East Kilbride, Enfield, Folkestone, Glasgow Argyle, Gloucester, Grimsby, Hatfield Galleria, Heathrow T5 Departure Level, Heathrow Terminal 1, Heathrow Terminal 3, Heathrow Terminal 4, Hemel Hempstead, High Wycombe, Isle of Wight, Lancaster, Leadenhall, Mansfield, Middlesbrough, Newbury, Newcastle Silverlink, Newport, Nuneaton, Redditch, Salisbury, Scarborough, Southport, Stafford, Staines, Stockport, Swindon, Taunton, Torquay and Woking.
