NED Kelly believes Nottingham Forest's coaching staff are even better equipped to bring success to the club this time around.
The Reds deputy manager says he, Billy Davies, Julian Darby and Pete Williams have all been working hard during their time away from football.
The quartet have met up for regular meetings between themselves – while travelling the world to see how things are done on the coaching ground in other countries.
And Kelly says he is always looking to learn new ways of doing things.
"I went to Portugal, Italy, Australia . . . many different places," he said. "It just gives you an idea of what everyone else is doing.
"We went to watch an Italian third division side. It was supposed to be sunny, but it was pouring down with rain.
"They only had one goalkeeper coach, but he was working with ten keepers – and still managed to put a really good session on.
"It is just about things like that; about education and looking at how other people do things.
"Are there different ways to do what you do? You are always learning in life, whether you are a coach or a manager. It is about seeing somebody's good idea and making it into a new one of your own."
And Kelly says the Reds' management team are already doing things differently this time around.
"There are lots of different ideas for how we can do things," he said. "Not just about how we do things on the training ground, but over how we travel, over how we prepare.
"We are all learning and we are all striving to become better. We want the team to be as successful as possible.
"We have all been at many games, in different areas and we have looked at a lot of different teams.
"We have met up a lot over the last few months, because we are friends as well as work colleagues. We have been out for food and just kept in touch.
"We did not swan off into the sunset and do nothing. We had to be aware of what was going on."
Kelly is already impressed with the quality of the squad he and Davies have inherited. And, in some ways, he believes it could be stronger than the one they had previously.
"It is a decent squad, we have some experienced players, some decent players," he said. "From what we have seen so far, there are some good characters as well.
"That is important. You want to work with the best quality of player that you can. It is a good squad.
"They listen, which is a big bonus. The squad we inherited the first time around was a very young, inexperienced group. This time, we have a little more experience and know-how in there. That could be important."
