NOTTINGHAM Forest's revival under Billy Davies was continued as the Reds claimed a comfortable win with a red hot performance on a freezing afternoon in Charlton.
Radi Majewski and Henri Lansbury struck in the 53rd and 60th minutes to secure a deserved three points over Chris Powell's side.
Forest were aided by a rash moment from Yann Kermorgant, who was red carded in the 37th minute for lashing out at Greg Halford. But the only frustration for the visitors will have been a failure to add to their tally, with the superb Majewski missing two golden opportunities to add to his tally and follow-up his midweek hat-trick against Huddersfield.
Still that was a very minor criticism on an afternoon when Forest produced another promising display and took Davies' personal tally to seven points from three matches since returning for a second spell as manager.
Former Charlton man Andy Reid was involved as Forest launched an immediate attack in the first minute, feeding Chris Cohen into space down the left. But the Reds' skipper's cross was cleared at the near post.
Radi Majewski, buoyed by his midweek hat-trick, let fly with two early shots from distance, but saw the first charged down and the second rise well high and wide of the target.
Majewski was at the centre of things again as a darting run into the channel gave him the chance to deliver from the left and pick out Simon Cox, but the striker had the ball snatched off his toes just as he attempted to shoot.
Adlene Guediora then lined-up a shot from the edge of the box and almost carved out a chance for Cox, after failing to properly connect – but the striker was judged offside before he could pull the trigger from close range.
A fine headed knock-down from Henderson looked to have carved out a chance for Cox and, when the Charlton defence got a foot in, the ball broke kindly for Majewski, who fired badly over the bar from a good position 12 yards out.
Hendson provided another good lay-off, this time for Henri Lansbury, but the midfielder opted to dummy the ball when there was nobody behind him to benefit.
Forest had a great chance when Cox led a quick break, with Lansbury ultimately feeding Majewski in the box, but the Pole's shot was smothered by Ben Hamer.
Charlton then found themselves reduced to ten men as Yann Kermorgant lashed out with an off the ball kick on Greg Halford, with referee Andy Madley consulting both his assistants before flashing a red card.
Reid sent a wild shot high into the stand and Guedioura came rather closer with a low, bobbling shot that was only a few feet wide. But Forest will have been frustrated to have gone into the break at 0-0, after dominating for long periods.
Forest will have been pleased with their performance in the first 45 minutes, although probably also a little frustrated not to have turned their dominance into a half time lead.
Having had their main striker sent off in the first period, Charlton brought on Ricardo Fuller for Dale Stephens during the interval.
Forest continued to push forward, but without carving out a clear chance, with Guedioura seeing a rising shot climb well over the bar.
But they finally got the breakthrough their pressure had deserved when, after a mistake from Scott Wagstaff, Majewski battled to find the room to shoot and prodded the ball beyond an exposed Hamer.
Cox then flicked a shot wide of the upright, as Forest put pressure on the Charlton goal again, right in front of the travelling fans.
And the second goal was not long in coming, with Cox angling into the box from the right and striking a low shot that the keeper could not hold, with Lansbury following up to stroke a simple finish into the empty net.
Lansbury was on the attack again, this time seeing a low, driven shot charged down. While Henderson had a header cleared off the line, as Charlton briefly lost their defensive composure.
Henderson, at full stretch, sent a header over the bar after being picked out by a cross from Reid.
While Majewski really should have had a second after Forest broke with pace again, but the midfielder fired over after a Cohen cut-back picked him out in the centre.
Henderson was then denied by the post after connecting with a crisp volley at the far post, as Forest looked to secure a three-goal cushion.
Majewski, confidence high, then saw yet another effort charged down, following good work from substitute Lewis McGugan, who had come on for Lansbury.
Cox then put his boot through another long range effort, but Hamer this time did well to hold on to the ball. The striker was then replaced by Billy Sharp, who was given ten minutes to impress.
