Lindon Meikle's last-minute winner gave Mansfield's play-off hopes a major boost with a 3-2 win against managerless Luton.
The Stags are outside the top-five only on goal difference and have two games in hand on Forest Green following a dramatic victory.
They went ahead through Matt Green's 32nd-minute penalty, after Colin Daniel was fouled by Steve McNulty.
Luton, who parted company with boss Paul Buckle earlier this week, levelled six minutes later as Scott Rendell scored his first league goal since Boxing Day. Jonathan Smith's shot was blocked and the ball fell to Rendell who sidefooted into the corner.
Mansfield re-took the lead just before half-time when Daniel was found by Lee Stevenson on the left and he arrowed a ball into the bottom corner for his third goal in five games.
The Hatters were back on level terms two minutes into the second period when Andre Gray collected Rendell's flick-on and beat Alan Marriott from close range.
But with time running out, it was the Stags who took all three points. Chris Clements' shot was parried by Mark Tyler and Meikle was on hand to stab in from the rebound.
