BILLY Davies today praised his Nottingham Forest players for their comfortable 2-0 win over Charlton – and admitted they might have had more goals.
Radi Majewski and Henri Lansbury struck to secure three points at the Valley, but the win might have been even more emphatic, with the visitors missing several good chances amid a rampant performance.
Polish midfielder Majewski could have followed up his midweek hat-trick against Huddersfield with another in south-east London.
He netted the opening goal for the Reds and could have had two more, had he made the most of two equally good openings.
"Radi could have had a hat-trick, he should have had one. There is a lot of debate in the dressing room about the goals that he does not score," said Davies. "But he is such a busy player, he has great qualities and it is important that we keep him doing what he has been doing.
"It is the same with young Lansbury, he is another one I am trying to encourage to get forward and get some more goals under his belt.
"Some of our set up play was excellent, we missed some good chances. But what you see at the moment is a group of players that is working very, very hard and a group of players that is realising the message we are trying to put across to them.
"Asides from the goal scorers, the forwards were outstanding. Cox worked his socks off, Henderson was outstanding, Reid was superb in the middle of the park and the defence was well organised, helping us to keep a clean sheet. It was a team effort, a very good team performance."
Davies felt that Forest were in control even before Yann Kermorgant was red carded in the 37th minute, for lashing out at Greg Halford.
"I have not seen the action of what happened. But I am told their player kicked out. If that is true, the referee had no option. But, even before the sending off, we controlled the game," he said.
But Forest suffered a blow of their own later in the game, when Halford picked up a suspension of his own, when he was booked for a foul.
"We lose Halford for two games now, because of his booking. That will mean somebody else gets a chance," said Davies.
