NOTTINGHAM Forest will continue to consider their options in the loan market, says Billy Davies. But the Reds boss also hinted that the club may retain a cautious stance when it comes to new additions.
Davies says he is still considering making loan signings – and also the future of current loan defenders Elliott Ward and Gonzalo Jara, who both continue to flourish.
But, given the flying start they have made to his second spell in charge, Davies is unlikely to rush into anything.
"We have three of the back five who are on loan, which we will look at," he said. "The chairman has also said we will use the loan market if we need to.
"But it may not be healthy if we can only have five in the squad on a match day. But the option is there for us if we need it.
"We will look at that, we will see what is available. If something is available for us, we will do it."
Davies says it is important that Forest kept a clean sheet against Charlton, given that they have not kept one in their 12 previous fixtures.
"It was a very important clean sheet. We asked (the players) for it before the game. We probably deserved it in our last two matches, but a little bit of slackness in our play cost us dearly," he said.
"But I am pleased for the back five, because we have worked hard this week on certain aspects of our game. It will give them a bit of confidence.
"Karl (Darlow) is a young player and we know what he needs. But you can talk about him, the back four, the front two . . . it was a great team effort, a great team performance.
"It was a very important three points at a difficult club to collect wins at."
Davies was also impressed with the performance of Chris Cohen, who flourished at left back and with the captain's armband.
"He has so much energy. He gets forward so well and he has that consistency. He has 90-minute fitness which is always very important for full backs," he said.
"In the first half, our crossing was poor. We did not get enough crosses into the box. But Chris has slotted in very well into that position. He is a very good option for us at left back."
