Decision to axe Fraser Nicholson left us utterly baffled

WHEN you are a professional football manager, coach or player, a nomadic, uncertain lifestyle comes with the territory.

High financial reward is the compensation for the knowledge that, almost at any point, you can find yourself looking for alternative employment.

But, while the game by its very nature is a transient industry, there are some people who do deserve to find themselves beyond the reach of the fickle nuances of football.

Fraser Nicholson had been part of the media team at Nottingham Forest for the best part of two decades.

He was a professional, dedicated and loyal servant to the club, who was liked and respected by everyone he came into contact with, both at Forest and beyond – including everyone at the Post.

Most of the time, when somebody loses their job in football, there is an obvious explanation; a failure on the pitch or a breakdown of a relationship.

But I don't think it is stepping beyond the mark for me to say that the decision to end Fraser's time at the City Ground was one that had the majority of the Nottingham media scratching their heads in confusion – and in considerable dismay.
