Trading Standards officers are warning parents to be on the lookout for unsafe baby dummies.
Notts County Council's Trading Standards team says 'bling' dummy clips are becoming increasingly available for sale on social networking sites.
The clips, which help to fasten a dummy to a baby's clothing, are covered with sequins or beading and are often homemade, so do not meet UK safety regulations.
Trading Standards officers say it could lead to possible safety issues, including no ventilation holes, and small beads which could cause choking.
Sarah Ridley, Trading Standards Officer at Notts County Council, said: "Parents who purchase these bling clips are potentially risking their child's life as these products have usually not been rigorously tested to ensure they are safe to use.
"The clips are part of the recent trend for customised baby equipment available on the internet to buy.
"Although we have not received any complaints about these clips the safety of local children is a priority so we are encouraging parents to err on the side of caution by not purchasing these products."
The council's Trading Standards teams also received similar complaints last year about a Notts-based seller who was making and selling the novelty dummies via their Facebook page.
