NOTTINGHAM Forest are confident of extending their recent revival in form – but still cautious about mentioning the 'P' word.
The Reds will be looking to record a third consecutive win for the first time this season, when they make the short trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday evening.
And striker Simon Cox admits there has been a change in attitude since Billy Davies returned for a second spell as manager and says the biggest factor has been the self belief engrained in the side by the Scotsman.
But Davies will not allow his players to look beyond the game at Hillsborough and consider their prospects of making a late push for promotion.
"It has been good over the last few weeks," said Cox. "The lads have responded to the way the new manager wants us to play.
"You have seen the change in results and that breeds confidence. The team are full of confidence at the minute.
"Do we look upwards a little more now? No, winning does help your belief and we are doing well at the minute.
"But we are going to take it one game at a time, which means our focus, for now, can only be on Sheffield Wednesday."
Cox hopes Forest can build on their unbeaten start under Davies – which has seen a 1-1 draw with Bolton, followed by fine wins against Huddersfield and Charlton.
"Momentum is important, but we are not focusing on anything long term at the minute," he said. "We genuinely are only looking at the next game.
"Our results have been good so far and we want to keep things simple, to make sure that is maintained.
"Sheffield Wednesday is another challenge for us and a different one as well, because it is on television, it is a big stadium and there will be pressure now, because of the way results have gone for us.
"But we will accept that. Our performances and results have been good, so if that brings expectation, so be it. But it also brings confidence."
Cox is enjoying life under the manager – and believes the changes Davies has made to their training routine is already being reflected on the pitch.
"A few of the lads who had played under him before said good things about him. In fact they all did," said Cox. "He has come in, he has been first class. His training is good, the staff are good. Everything is very enthusiastic.
"We have taken the things we have done in training into the games, which has proved to be vital."
Forest took around 2,500 fans to Charlton on Saturday and can expect a bigger following in south Yorkshire.
"The fans were magnificent, it was more like a home game on Saturday, because they were making so much noise," said Cox.
"We thank them for continuing to follow us and hopefully they will give us good backing again this weekend."
