JAKE Speight fired a double to ensure there was no FA Cup upset as Mansfield Town progressed to the first round proper at the expense of Workington.
He notched either side of the break at Workington as the Stags won 2-1 against their Cumbrian opponents, who are from the league below.
But it was not without plenty of scares as the hosts impressed in the first half, hitting the woodwork three times and seeing an effort cleared off the line.
But when a chance did come Speight's way in the 33rd minute, he stayed composed to take it and did the same in the 67th minute to make the game safe.
Mansfield then looked to be coasting to the win before goalkeeper Shane Redmond needlessly fouled Jonny Wright inside the box with four minutes remaining and Gareth Arnison made no mistake from the penalty spot to set up a tense finale.
But the Stags did hold on and the fourth qualifying round win nets Mansfield £12,500 in prize money and puts them into Sunday's first round draw, which takes place at 1.30pm.
