THIS year, 20 per cent of East Midlands Airport staff have volunteered in the community - helping 21 different organisations in the process.
The 20 per cent figure was a challenging target set to involve 105 members of staff in projects across 2012/13. And the number is an increase of 44 colleagues on last year's target.
Over 585 volunteering hours were clocked up on activities, such as helping with the 'When you wish upon a star' flight to Lapland and hosting work experience students.
Jessica Gilbody, Community Relations Manager, East Midlands Airport said: "To us, being a responsible neighbour is incredibly important and we are pleased to be able to offer our staff members' help in the community. We are constantly engaging with the community and we like to think that the hundreds of hours that we have volunteered have really made a difference in the region."
