PARAMEDICS will be recognised at an awards ceremony.
East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) will hold its first Values and Recognition Awards on Thursday. April 18
Paramedics will be nominated in seven categories – two of which are in memory of former Nottingham men.
The Willetts Award – in memory of Nottingham soldier Michael Willetts – will recognise courage and paramedics who have gone above and beyond the call of duty while the Paul Richard Basford Award for Volunteers will recognise community first
responders.
Mr Basford died in a road-accident in Notts in September 2001.
EMAS' chairman Jon Towler will host the evening, which is being funded by sponsorship and donations from businesses.
"We know that our dedicated staff and volunteers do an amazing job every day of the year but we don't always get the opportunity to recognise their achievements," he said.
"Our role is often to be there at the most challenging and distressing moments of people's lives. These awards recognise those individuals and teams who help us be the best we can be in these situations.
"I'm proud of every nomination which shows not only do we deliver first-rate care but we also work in partnership with each other and other agencies, act with empathy and recognise the needs of vulnerable people."
The awards ceremony will be held at Colwick Hall Hotel from 6pm.
