St George's Day in Nottingham - where to celebrate

NOTTS folk don't have to wait until Tuesday to celebrate St George's famous dragon slaying. Events are taking place over the weekend

Today

Brewhouse Yard will be opening its doors for free all day on Saturday and Sunday.

The Admiral Rodney Pub in Main St, Calverton is staging a re-enactment of St George's famous dragon slaying at 8pm with a live band an hour later.

Tomorrow

A parade through Ollerton from St Joseph Church to Church St from noon to 12.30pm. Meet from 11am.

Long Eaton is celebrating with a parade between South St and Market Place. First trip leaves at 2pm and they will go round again from 3.30pm, starting at Market Place.

Tuesday

St George's Day parade from the Royal Society of St George, leaving the Forest Recreation Ground at noon, and heading towards Old Market Square, where a live music festival is set to take place.

The Bramley Centre in King St, Southwell, are hosting readings and songs from 7pm for £5 (including supper).

New Forresters Pub in St Ann's is having a disco, with free pool after 1pm.

News House Pub in Canal St are hosting a special St George's Day quiz.

The Score and Saturday's Boys will be playing for punters at The Old Volunteer pub in Carlton.
