A PUB in Mansfield town centre is closed to trade after it was raided by police on Saturday afternoon.
They were responding to intelligence from the community and ongoing complaints about suspected illegal activity on the premises.
Five people - four men and a woman - were arrested on suspicion of a number of drug-related offences. They are all from the Mansfield area and remain in police custody for questioning.
Further arrests are expected to take place over the coming weeks in connection with the investigation.
Quantities of substances believed to be controlled drugs were seized during the action.
A 30-strong team of police officers, Police Community Support Officers and Special Constables carried out enforcement action at the Crown and Anchor, in Queen Street, at around 4.20pm.
A cordon was in place around the pub until 8pm while a detailed search was carried out.
As a result of the action, a request will be made to the licensing authority to suspend the pub's licence to trade, pending a full review.
Neil Williams, Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Mansfield South, who led the operation, said: "Make no mistake, Mansfield is a good place to visit and enjoy a safe night out.
"However, a minority of licensed premises let the rest of the responsible traders down and harm the reputation of our town.
"Today, we have responded to complaints from the community about suspected illegal activity at the Crown and Anchor and acted on intelligence from members of the public to take this action.
"They can be assured that we have listened to their concerns and taken them seriously.
"We consulted with our partners before taking this action and, together, we will work to ensure all licensed premises in Mansfield are operating legally and safely."
Anyone with any information that could help the investigation is asked to call Notts Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
