CLOTHES may be the focus of a catwalk show but every detail counts.

And 48 Hours Of Fashion, held in Nottingham's Old Market Square on Friday and Saturday, went beyond the ordinary – bringing together fashion with entertainment, including catwalks swarming with synchronised dancing, disco lighting, music, trends and fashion advice.

A bright marquee in the square delivered energetic shows, where crowds were bopping their heads to the music and enjoying the buzz of the performances.

"This great energy in a fashion show is perfect for those who haven't been to a show before – it's spectacular and not one to miss," said Gemma Shepherd, a fashion stylist, sitting in the front row.

The whirlwind of fashion showcased an eclectic mix of affordable women's and menswear from brands including Primark, Topshop/Topman, American Apparel, Debenhams, Monsoon and Marks & Spencer.

With women dancing with umbrellas and men dancing with bags, the show perfectly complemented the theme and the display of clothes.

The outfits were bright and the main trending colours for summer appeared to be red, blue, floral and even multi-colours.

Holding a fashion show in Nottingham gave people insight into the latest trends, attracted a variety of people of different ages and proved that Nottingham is a fashionable city.

At the 3pm show, the audience was joined by the newly crowned Miss Nottingham, Juliette Brashier.

Models waved and congratulated her during the finale of the show and members of the audience were eager to snap a picture with her.

Marcus Maddison, 33, of Carlton, said: "Nottingham is a great city so this fashion show is a good idea – it's probably better outdoors because then people can see it more.

"Nottingham has a broad spectrum when it comes to fashion and I think people dismiss this – it's also a very diverse place.

"It shows people don't always have to travel to Birmingham, Manchester or London for clothes – they can visit Nottingham as it's a good place for fashion."

Tanya Whelan, 37, of Burton Joyce, added: "Seeing the next fashion for the next season should be happening in Nottingham. It brings fashion, style and lifestyle to Nottingham," she said. "It shows you top trends, colours to wear and what to pair things with, so it's good for those who know little about fashion."
