TWO brothers have been jailed after police found £70,000 worth of heroin in a swoop on their home.
Police searched the property in Foxhall Road, Forest Fields, earlier this year after a tip-off.
They found the heroin, along with about £500 worth of crack cocaine and small amounts of ketamine and cannabis.
Brothers Shazad and Shabaz Ali, who lived at the address, were arrested following the raids on January 9, 2013.
The force's specialist Operation Vanguard, which targets drugs, guns and gangs, carried out the raid.
Detective Constable James McDonagh hailed the operation's success.
He said: "Once again, Operation Vanguard is showing that crime does not pay, that if you deal in drugs in Nottinghamshire you will be caught. The Ali brothers had been regularly supplying illegal substances to the Nottinghamshire area and their conviction today will go some way in disrupting this activity."
Detectives gathered evidence of the brothers' crimes using covert tactics.
Mobile phone analysis was used to target the people they supplied.
Shazad and Shabaz Ali appeared before Nottingham Crown Court yesterday.
Shazad Ali, 25, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine and possession of ketamine. He was jailed for three years.
Shabaz Ali, 24, was sentenced to two years in prison after an earlier guilty plea to supply and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
He was also sentenced to a month in jail for possession of cannabis and three months for possession of cocaine. The sentences will run concurrently.
Passing sentence on the brothers, Judge Andrew Hamilton said: "People who deal Class A drugs can expect to go to prison for a significant amount of time."
DC McDonagh said: "The sentence imposed upon them reflects the determination of the police and the courts to make Nottinghamshire a cleaner, safer place to live, to work in and to visit."
Notts Police will now pursue the brothers under the Proceeds of Crime Act, which will enable the police to confiscate any money they have made from the drugs racket.
