YOUNGSTERS from Ilkeston have helped raise awareness of speeding vehicles. Year Six pupils from Granby Junior School created posted to highlight the dangers of speeding in a 30mph zone as part of a Community Champions project. Around 30 posters have now been put up around the Shipley View estate. PCSO Robert Webb, of the Cotmanhay and Shipley View policing team, who runs the Community Champion project, also visited the school as part of them project. "I hope the local community can see that we are looking at various ways to highlight the dangers of speeding and as a result are mindful of the speed limit when driving their own vehicles," he said. "In addition to this, the issue of speeding vehicles was highlighted in a recent Shipley View resident meeting, which I attended. "Hopefully this initiative from the pupils at Granby Junior School has made steps in addressing the needs of the community in Shipley View."
