FORMER Nottingham Forest transfer target Marcos Alonso has joined Fiorentina.
The Reds had been keen on the left-back prior to the January transfer window, with the former Real Madrid player identified as a potential signing under Sean O'Driscoll.
But once the Serie A big guns' interest became apparent – and O'Driscoll had departed – the chances of Alonso moving to the Midlands quickly evaporated.
Alonso was offered a new contract at the Reebok Stadium, but opted to take the chance to impress in Italy's top flight.
The 22-year-old Spaniard was also linked with a move to Premier League Stoke City, as it became clear his three-year stay with Bolton was to come to an end.
Alonso made 46 appearances and scored five goals for Wanderers.
