A BULWELL couple have received a long service award for foster caring.
Viv Mann, 53, and her partner Denyse, 57, have been fostering for 15 years and have taken in over 20 children and young people in that time.
For the last ten years, Viv and Denyse have been fostering through the Core Assets Fostering agency, which presented them with the award.
Miss Mann said: "We began fostering 15 years ago and never looked back, I couldn't imagine doing anything else now.
"One person we looked after still visits regularly, she will come straight in, raid our cupboards and then run a bath – we love it because she sees our house as home and us as her family."
The award was presented as part of the agency's Foster Care Fortnight celebrations.
Core Assets Fostering Midlands area manager Peter Battram said: "Viv and Denyse are brilliant foster carers. They have helped many vulnerable youngsters turn their lives around and build positive futures. We are proud to have them as part of the Core Assets team and I am thrilled to have presented them with their long service award."
Miss Mann added: "If you're thinking about fostering, you need to be caring, nurturing and committed, you've got to be able to provide safety, stability and structure. Fostering changes your life but we've never regretted our decision."
