West Bridgford man dies in Leicestershire crash

A WEST Bridgford man has died after a road crash in Leicestershire. Stephen Hammonds, 67, was killed in the collision at around 3.30pm on Thursday in Loughborough. It happened on Station Boulevard in the town and involved one vehicle, a grey Ford Focus, which left the road and collided with a bus shelter. Leicestershire Police released Mr Hammonds' identity today and said he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Detective Constable Seamus Burns, who is investigating the incident, said: "The vehicle was driving towards the A60 Nottingham Road at the time of the collision. "We would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen the collision or the vehicle beforehand to contact us."
