A NOTTINGHAM University has scooped a national award for the extensive transformation of its three campuses.
Nottingham Trent University won the Outstanding Estates Team category in the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2013.
The accolade was given on June 20, in front of 800 people during a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, which was hosted by television presenter and comedian Dara O Briain Corr.
Judges said the university had established a strong strategy that "has clearly played a major role in helping the university to reshape its strategic plan".
In particular, the university was recognised for:• The extensive regeneration of the Grade II listed Newton and Arkwright buildings at its City Site• The major investment in a new Students' Union building at the City Site which is expected to be one of the most impressive in the country• The development of the new Rosalind Franklin building, a high-specification science facility, at the Clifton Campus• The construction of a new eco-friendly library at the Brackenhurst Campus• Investment in modern sports facilities, including the Lee Westwood Sports Centre at the Clifton Campus
Stephen Jackson, chief financial and operations officer at Nottingham Trent University, said:"We set our ambitions high and strived for excellence from the very start, so I'm very pleased that this has been recognised with this coveted award."
