The candidates for the November 15 election will meet at a hustings at Nottingham Trent University's Newton Building.
Labour's Paddy Tipping, Conservative Tony Roberts and independents Malcolm Spencer and Dr Raj Chandran will take questions from the public during the two-hour event.
Commissioners are being brought in across England and Wales to replace police authorities.
They will set police budgets and determine crime-fighting priorities.
