TWO men have been jailed for dealing the party drug MCat to undercover police. The officers had been chatting with Shane Chapman and Michael Gilbert near a Mansfield pub and asked them about buying MCat, which is also known as 'meow meow' and 'bubble'. The men asked the officers to follow them after they got talking, not realising they were police, on April 6 this year. Chapman went to a house and returned with the drugs, while Gilbert stayed with the two men, saying, "the quality of the MCat was good", Nottingham Crown Court heard. Five re-sealable bags of powder were sold for £40, said prosecutor Ian Way. On April 20 the officers contacted 33-year-old Chapman, of Princess Street, Mansfield, and asked about buying the drug again. A meeting was arranged in the car park of another pub in Mansfield. This time 22-year-old Gilbert, of Fern Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, handed over the drug. Both men, who had previous convictions, were arrested separately on April 27. At court, they admitted two charges of supplying the drug and each received ten-month sentences. Recorder Andrew Easteal told them: "You both understand that in April this year, on two occasions, you were caught dealing a Class B drug. "You were caught because, as it turned out, the people you supplied the drug to were two undercover officers, keeping a note of everything taking place. "You both invited them to make contact again and that happened on April 20. You offered drugs and they bought five bags for £40."
