A Nottingham-made shawl was selected by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to carry home their newborn, it has been revealed. The £45 knit was made by Beeston-based G.H. Hurt & Son and was tightly wrapped around the Prince of Cambridge as he left St Mary's Hospital yesterday. Unsurprisingly, the company has reported an increase in demand since photos of the shawl - and the little baby inside it - were transmitted around the world. A statement on their website read: "Due to a well publicised event, demand for the Super-fine Merino Wool Christening Shawl has increased. Lead times may be slightly longer with this beautiful shawl, but we are doing our very best to deliver to time." The company, which was established in 1912, supplies lace-knitted ladies' shawls, scarves and baby christening shawls.
