A WEST Bridgford school has been rated "good in all areas by Ofsted inspectors.

Nottingham Emmanuel School was praised by inspectors for improvements in exam results, teaching and student behaviour.

Inspectors visited Emmanuel School on October 30 and 31.

The report has just been made public and gave the school the second-best rating of good in all four areas – achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management.

This result was an improvement from the school's previous inspection, when it was awarded a "satisfactory" rating.

In the report, Ofsted lead inspector Lynne Blakelock commented: "Standards have risen over the last three years from significantly below average to average, in the proportion of students achieving five A* to C grades, including English and mathematics, and at A-level."

She went on: "Although not all teaching is good, a growing amount is, including in the sixth form, and over time it means students achieve well."

The inspectors' report added that the school's teachers had to strive harder in order to reach an outstanding rating at its next inspection.
