WALKING out at Sincil Bank today, Mansfield Town winger Louis Briscoe will be looking to cause pain for his former mentor.
After all, it was David Holdsworth who took a punt on Briscoe back in January 2009 and took him to the Stags from Ilkeston.
Now, Holdsworth has left north Nottinghamshire and is in charge of Lincoln, who Stags face today in the second round of the FA Cup.
But Briscoe remains a Stag and while he says it is down to his ex-boss that he is now forging a career in the Blue Square Bet Premier, he will not be showing any mercy today.
A place in the third round awaits, when all the Premier League big guns joins the competition, and the 24-year-old winger wants to be part of it.
He said: "It will be nice to see him again and if I do play, I can show him how far I have come on.
"He plucked me out of nowhere, playing non-league football part-time and some of that time, I was not even playing.
"But he gave me the chance to play here and I will be forever thankful for that.
"Managers and players move on but I am still here and I won't speak to him beforehand but I will have a chat afterwards, hopefully with the win to our name."
Briscoe has made 154 appearances for Mansfield, scoring 30 goals.
And he has been involved in the recent good run that saw Mansfield go seven games unbeaten, before Tuesday's disappointing exit to Matlock in the FA Trophy.
He was rested for that replay, after playing in the 1-1 draw last Saturday.
But he believes the rest could be a blessing in disguise as he looks to get back in on the action at an in-form Lincoln today (1pm kick off).
"It was maybe a good time for me to get a breather because I had played eight games in a row and as much as I did want to play the other night, the rest has probably done me good," said Briscoe.
"It was disappointing against Matlock but we have seen what cup competitions can be like and it took penalties at Slough to get to this stage.
"But that is what makes these cups so special and people seem to forget that too quickly.
"This match is a great draw for both us and Lincoln. We are taking a lot of fans and it will bring everybody together.
"There have been a lot of close games between us and hopefully this time we can come out on top."
There are plenty of links between the two clubs, with Holdsworth now in charge there and ex-Mansfield players like Adam Smith and Colin Larkin in their squad.
Alan Marriott also returns to Lincoln in a Stags shirt but Holdsworth himself will expect some stick for Mansfield fans.
Briscoe added: "He has his style and he is somebody who is the same in front of the camera as he is behind the scenes.
"Some people see that as charm, others as a bit of arrogance. For me, I am just so thankful for what he has done for me."
