3. As soon as the supermarkets stock them, the British public stock up. Quality Streets are top notch in the Christmas confectionery stakes and this late 90s lollipop lady advert still tugs on the heart strings today.
4. Marks and Spencer is always a big contender in the Christmas advert battlefield. In 2009 the store used a twinkling soundtrack and bunch of famous faces including Wallace & Gromit and Stephen Fry.
5. John Lewis is always successful when it comes to Christmas adverts. The department store tells heart-warming stories to melt everyone's hearts during the festive season. This snowman one currently has nearly five million YouTube hits.
6. Following the snowman's success, the 2013 John Lewis advert was highly anticipated and the department store didn't fail. The £7 million campaign contained an animated woodland tale featuring a bear and a hare.
