Comedian Johnny Vegas has backed a Basford couple's bid to 'Win a Wedding' with the Nottingham Post.
The video, posted on YouTube, features the star pleading with viewers to vote for Joe Dickens, 32, and Manni Lo, 30, to win the £13,000 wedding package.
In the video, Vegas says: "I'm Johnny Vegas and I'm a very busy man."
He tells viewers that although the couple had pledged their love for each and vowed to get married, they couldn't because they didn't have enough money.
"So they entered a competition in their local newspaper," Vegas says.
"To cut out a coupon, just to get the chance to say 'I do, I want to spend the rest of my life with you'."
The video ends with scrolling instructions on how to vote for the pair.WATCH the video
Joe works as operations manager at comedy club Just The Tonic and said his boss, Darrell Martin, asked Vegas to do the video.
It was filmed in the back office of the Nottingham club.
In his entry, Joe says: "Manni and myself have been together for six years now, and on July 2012 I plucked up the courage to propose.
"I had to pull so many strings trying to make sure it was special. I rang all her friends from all over the UK and got them to secretly come up to Nottingham and hide in the park tunnel just off Derby Road.
"I borrowed a confetti cannon and an outdoor PA and made a rainbow curtain to try and make it as special as I could.
"Since then we have been trying to save as much as possible, taking on second jobs and hardly seeing each other.
"Then unfortunately Manni's father passed away and she lost the person she wanted to walk her down the aisle.
"It would be really nice to win our dream wedding, as it means we can enjoy being with each other in the lead up to the wedding rather than counting coppers from the savings bottle."WATCH: Joe's proposing to Manni
Voting for Win a Wedding continues until Saturday 2nd March and all votes must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, 6th March, 2013 in order for them to be counted. All votes must be sent with a registration form, printed each Saturday during the voting period. Watch out for the extra vote days – like today, 18th February whereby every vote counts three times. There is a quadruple vote on Saturday 23rd February – so don't miss out on obtaining extra votes for your favourite couple to win a wedding worth over £13,000!
