POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in the city centre earlier today. A man entered Nottingham Credit Union, Maid Marian Way, at around 12.30pm and demanded money. He threatened staff with what police describe as "a concealed implement" before fleeing on foot with a quantity of cash. There were a number of customers in the premises at the time but no one was injured. He is a white male, around 5ft 4ins tall and was wearing blue jeans and a green hooded jacket with the hood worn up. Irene Smith, CEO at Nottingham Credit Union, Maid Marian Way, said: "We were all shocked. I have worked in banking all my life and this has never happened before. "The staff on the shop floor at the time remained as calm as they needed to and everybody did all the right things. "We hope to be back up and running tomorrow." If anyone has any information contact Notts Police on 101, quoting incident 337 of June 12 , or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
