A teenage girl who was hit by a tram last night in Hucknall has died.WATCH: A video of the scene of the crash
The incident happened at around 7pm yesterday near to the junction of Hucknall Lane and Nottingham Road.
Neil Wood, NET general manager, said: "First and foremost we need to stress that our thoughts and sympathies are with the teenager's family at this time.
"We have launched our own internal inquiry into the incident and of course are cooperating fully with the police crash investigation team and the rail accident investigation branch."
The driver of the tram was also treated for shock last night.
A resident of nearby Nottingham Road, who did not want to be named, was out with his girlfriend walking his dog when the incident happened.
He said: "I crossed over and the girl was coming and I heard a massive bang.
"She was about 15 or 16 and she was with three others." Tram services are running as normal again this morning.
